Malissa was the sixth of ten known children of Charles Bruner (1817-1892) and Elizabeth (went by Eliza) Schneider Bruner (1821-1900), who married 24 Mar 1842 at Hope, Bartholomew County, Indiana.

Malissa married John Henry Peddycord/ Peddicord/Petticord (1854-1915) on 16 Aug 1877 at Bartholomew County, Indiana. It is thought that the family used the surname Peddycord earlier in John's life.

Some records show John to be the son of Horatio Hamilton Peddycord (1811-1882) and Jane Beeson Peddycord (1816-1891). Other records show John to be the son of Spruce McKaughan Peddycord (1824-1881) and Drusilla Swaim Peddycord (1827-1883). Does anyone have any proof, either way?
