Leonard F. "Len" Burgener, 74, of Bourbonnais, passed away Wednesday (May 29, 2019) at his home.

He was born Sept. 17, 1944, in Monticello, the son of Phillip and Lucille (Nalefski) Burgener. Len married Vicki Zace on Aug. 7, 1982, in Kankakee.

Len retired from the Frito Lay company, where he worked as a route salesman. He also had been a barber at shops he owned and operated in Decatur and Mattoon. Len and Vicki also worked as greeters for Clancy-Gernon Funeral Homes for many years. Len was a Los Angeles Dodger fan and enjoyed watching Major League Baseball.

He was a parishioner at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bradley where he served as a Eucharistic minister and altar server and worked in hospitality.

Surviving are his wife, Vicki Burgener, of Bourbonnais; one son and daughter-in-law, James and Lisa Brickle, of Bourbonnais; two daughters and one son-in-law, Laura and Friedemann Stuebing, of Dekalb, and Julie Burgener and Marc Marion, of Dekalb; two grandchildren, Sarah, of Kansas, and Emily, of Dekalb; five sisters and two brothers-in-law, Mary Best, of Spring Hill, Fla., Lucille Chamberlain, of Fremont, Ohio, Virginia Hannon, of Joplin, Mo., Theresa Davidson, of Peoria, Susanna and Vernon Dargel, of Peoria, and Eugene Pollock, of Assumption; five brothers and five sisters-in-law, Donald and Ruth Burgener, of Little Silver, N.J., Raymond Burgener, of Tampa, Fla., Barbara Burgener, of Lehigh Acres, Fla., John and Judy Burgener, of Lafayette, Tenn., Charles and Marsha Burgener, of Bement, and Robert and Marcia Burgener, of Hammond; many nieces and nephews; many great-nieces and nephews; and many great-great-nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his parents; three sisters, Helen (James) Albright, Barbara (Fred) Kisters and Karol Pollock; one brother, Phillip Burgener; and sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Max Best, Linda Burgener, Richard Chamberlain, Tim Davidson, John Hannon and Beverly Burgener.

Cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial visitation will be from 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 4, until the 11 a.m. funeral Mass at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bradley. Inurnment will follow in All Saints Cemetery, Bourbonnais.

Memorials may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church. Funeral arrangements are by Clancy-Gernon Funeral Home.
