Son of the late George Wardell and Ina Marie Norman Spruill, he was a member of Scuppernong Church of Christ where his funeral was held on May 27, 2019, with Edgar Masencup and Bob Moulden officiating. He was survived by wife, Virginia Gail Alexander Spruill; a son; two step-sons; two daughters; a step-daughter; a brother; three sisters; 19 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and an extended family of relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Crystal Spruill Phelps.
