Baltazar “Walter” Sanchez Ledesma, 82, of Roswell, NM, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, May 24, 2019.

Walter was born in Robstown, TX, on February 26, 1936.

He was best known as a local radio celebrity from his work at Spanish speaking radio stations in Roswell, NM, Lubbock, TX, and Amarillo, TX, for over fifty years. Walter was also active in the Spanish Seventh Day Adventist Church in Roswell, NM. His radio work and civic involvement earned him recognition and awards too numerous to mention. Walter was a fantastic singer and enjoyed a good BBQ, and he would talk your ear off if given a chance.

Walter is survived by his children: Sylvia Ledesma Warner (Ron), Martha Ledesma Marshall (Robert), Carlos Walter Ledesma, Mario Ledesma, Olga Ledesma Silva (Cruz), Walter Joseph Ledesma (Jana), Brenda Ledesma (Mike Lucero), Jessica Ledesma (Antjuan); as well as twenty-eight grandchildren; thirty-three great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Walter is preceded in death by his parents, Jose Angel Ledesma and Concepcion Sanchez Ledesma; nine siblings; and one grandchild.

There will bear a viewing on Wednesday, May 29, 2019, 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM, at Anderson Bethany Funeral Home, 2609 S Main, Roswell, NM. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 30, 2019, 10:00 AM, at the Roswell Spanish Seventh Day Adventist Church, 500 S Cedar Ave., Roswell, NM. Interment will follow at South Park Cemetery.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are Rayjoe Isiah Horton, Andrew Nathaniel Horton, Roy Page, Josue Page, Robert Marshall, and Ray Velasco.

“Eternal grant onto them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. May the Souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, Rest in Peace.”
