Four years later on January 30, 1909 he married Miss Edith May Lawhon while visiting in Elgin, TX. They lived on their farm near Grosvenor, TX where they had four children to add to the two children of his previous marriage. In the fall of 1918 they moved to Elgin and farmed on about 100 acres of land inherited by Edith.

Edith died in Elgin on September 9, 1940. Robert Lee Awbrey died at a hospital in Austin, TX on July 10, 1945. At the time of his death, all six of his children were still living. At the time, Ogden was serving in Italy during WWII and was unable to return home for the funeral.
