OBITUARY:
Orangeburg - Gaither M. Adkins, 67, died Sunday. Born in Chester, he was a son of the late Walter Clarence and Catherine Brown Adkins. He was a retired salesman at Carter Furniture Co., a World War II veteran, and a member of the Chester Masonic Lodge No. 18, AFM and the VFW of Orangeburg. Mr. Adkins was also a member of Northside Baptist Church, Orangeburg. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Daisy Williams Adkins; sons, Steven and Donald Adkins of Orangeburg; a sister, Mrs. Ray (Willie Mae) Howell of Chester; and a brother, Harry Adkins of Atlanta. Services will be held at 4 p.m. Tuesday at Thompson Funeral Home of Orangeburg, with burial in Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home. © The State, Columbia, SC, 3 Jun 1985
