Lloyd Robert Klever was born on Friday; August 24, 1928 in Williamsburg; Iowa County, Iowa. Lloyd was the son of Floyd W. and Opal Jones Klever. He received his education in the Williamsburg schools and graduated from Williamsburg High School in 1946. He served in the U.S. Army for 2 years, stationed in Korea. Lloyd was employed at the Marengo Creamery, and also worked for the Iowa Department of Transportation retiring from there. Lloyd married RaeJean Chehak on Friday; October 24, 1952 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua; Chickasaw County, Iowa. She passed away on Thursday; January 19, 1995. He married Glorene Faye Nowotny-Weiss on Saturday; June 15, 1996 at the Little Brown Church. Lloyd was a member of First United Methodist Church in Marengo; Iowa County, Iowa. He served on the Marengo Fire Department for many years and was a past member of Kiwanis. He was a member of the Marengo American Legion, the Williamsburg Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Masonic Lodge and El Kahir Shrine. He loved entertaining crowds as a clown with El Kahir Shrine, and as Santa for the American Legion. Lloyd was an avid Hawkeye fan and he especially enjoyed spending time with his family, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family and a host of many friends. Lloyd Robert Klever, age 78, passed away on Tuesday; June 5, 2007 at Rose Haven Nursing Home in Marengo, Iowa following an extended illness. Those left to mourn his passing are: His wife: Glorene. Step-children: Gloria Leazer and husband Steve of Wilton; Muscatine County, Iowa. Gayle McCulley and husband Kenny of Barnes City; Mahaska County, Iowa and Glenda Campbell and husband Chuck of Marengo, Iowa. Seven step-grandchildren: Sara Leazer, Laura Leazer, Bronson McCulley, Mandy Dye (Chad), Cara Weiss-Jack (Neal), Melanie Campbell (Kris) and Derek Campbell. Six step-great-grandchildren: Caprice, Kennedy, Mason Dye, Kayla, Hailey Jack, and McKenzie Kempf. A niece: Jody Graesser and husband: John & their children: Justin and Josh of Citrus Heights; Sacramento County, California. A nephew: Randy Chehak and wife Laurie & their children: David, Christine and Julie of Elk Grove, Sacramento County, California and a sister-in-law: Eileen Chehak of Sacramento; Sacramento County, California. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife: RaeJean and a brother-in-law: Joseph Chehak. Friends may call from 4:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday; June 7, 2007 at the funeral home. Funeral Services will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Friday; June 8, 2007 at the First United Methodist Church in Marengo, Iowa with Reverend Louis Bell officiating. Burial will be in the Marengo Cemetery with military honors. A memorial fund has been established.
