Sarah M. Tolman was born to Judson A. Tolman and Sarah Lecretia Holbrook Tolman on 28 March 1847.
As the family was traveling across the prairie on their way to Utah. Young Sarah passed away. It is said in a article that Judson was seen walking down the road with his dead daughter under one arm and a shovel over the other shoulder. He walked back to a spot that was green and dug the grave and buried his small daughter. Sarah could not go with him as she was with the pioneer company very ill. There were so many of the pioneers who died trying to get to Utah that are buried along the trail. So her burial site is unknown.

Rest in peace sweet little ancestor of mine.
