The wife of John Johnson Snow, son of Frost Snow.
Not to be confused with another Elizabeth Snow (1813-1894) buried in the same cemetery who some think was the last wife of John Snow while others believe she was his daughter.

Rev. Hardin Edwards Taliaferro, author of "Fisher's River Scenes and Characters" (1859), wrote that "Uncle Johnson Snow" married Aunt Patsy Burruss. Rev. Taliaferro's mother Sarah "Sallie" Burroughs Taliaferro was the daughter of John Burruss (c1740-1783) and Sarah Martin, sister of Gen. Joseph Martin, and a granddaughter of Susannah Page (Chiles) Martin.

Some descendants have misidentified John Snow's wife as a daughter of Jacob Burruss (FindaGrave 11537699) and his wife Susannah Martin,(FindaGrave 11537665), and the granddaughter of Gen. Joseph Martin (1740-1808) and Sarah Lucas; and a great-granddaughter of Susannah Page (Chiles) Martin who descended from several early settlers as Jamestowne, as did the paternal Burrus line (Burris, Burrows, Burroughs) who reportedly trace from John Burrows, Gent., of Jamestowne.
Still other family trees show one John Davis Snow who married Jane Burruss (1793-1879), daughter of Charles Burruss (see FindaGrave 9512500).

Jacob Burruss and his wife Susannah Martin were first cousins. Their daughter Elizabeth Burruss married Clifford Gray and died by 1832, as shown by the will of her father and other records. Her sister Martha "Patsy" Burruss married William Johnson Cleveland.
Will of Jacob Burris (13 Jun 1832) names: Wife, Susanna, sons, Wm. T. & Martin, daus: Sally Payne; Nancy Ferguson; Patsey Cleveland; Matilda Hammock; deceased daughters Betsey Gray & Franky Payne, their children to inherit and Polly Hammock.
A sworn statement by William Hammack, in Lincoln County, Missouri & dated December 27, 1825: "I, Wm Hammack, do swear the following are all and the only heirs of the estate of Brice D. Burris, deceased, vis: JACOB BURRIS, SALLY [Wm]PAYNE, BETSEY [Clifford]GRAY, NANCY FERGUSON, PATSY CLEVELAND, POLLY [Wm]HAMMACK, MARTIN BURRIS, heirs of FANNEY PAYNE, WILLIAM & MATILDA BURRIS & GEORGE. Rev. Hardin Edwards Taliaferro wrote in his book "Fisher's River Scenes and Characters" (1859), that "Uncle Johnson Snow" married Aunt Patsy Burruss. Rev. Taliaferro's mother Sarah "Sallie" Burroughs Taliaferro was the daughter of John Burruss (c1740-1783) and Sarah Martin, sister of Gen. Joseph Martin.
If it is accurate that John Snow's wife was a sister of Sarah Burrus Taliaferro, then she was a niece of Gen. Joseph Martin, not his granddaughter. Mrs. Snow would still be related to many of the same people, which would explain the numerous DNA matches between the descendants.
Many of the families from Orange County, Virginia, to Fisher's River, Surry County, N.C. and Roane County, TN., were related in multiple ways. John Johnson Snow's sister Adra also married Benjamin Taliaferro. Their brother Thomas Snow married **Elizabeth Hale who some descendants claim was Elizabeth Burruss Hale.

Some family trees show that Sarah Martin, sister of Gen. Martin, married THOMAS Burruss (b1721), not John, and had (among other children) John Burruss (b.1757 Orange Co., VA., d.-aft 1830 Overton Co, TN) who married (1787 Albemarle Co., VA) Anna Ferguson (m1787 Albemarle) and had (among other children) Martha Patsy Burruss and Elizabeth Burruss.
One family tree says this Martha was the one "who married.John Robinson" (which was 22 Nov 1841 Madison Co, TN) , and her sister Elizabeth b1778 Surry "who married Thomas Dale 1823 in Overton Co, TN" -- at age 45, and by the dates of these marriages, these sisters would seem more likely granddaughters rather than daughters of John and Anna Ferguson Burruss..

Snow researchers stated more than 60 years that two Snow brothers married two Burruss sisters. Family trees of the Snow, Burruss, and Martin families online are contradictory and confusing at best.
A number of these identify John Snow's wife as Martha "Patsy" Burruss Hale (born 1786), while other Snow researchers assert that the John Snow who married Martha was a nephew of the John Snow who married Elizabeth or Martha Burruss. One John Snow married Mrs. Martha McCollum while another one, also related, married Frankie Easley and moved to Missouri.
Descendants of Johnson Snow of Roane County, Tennessee are DNA matches to Burruss and Martin descendants.
Some family trees call her Elizabeth Burruss Hale and show her married to Thomas Snow, while others show Thomas Snow as marrying Mary Burruss.

DNA of descendants of Johnson Snow of Roane County, Tennessee matches Burruss descendants. His wife could well be Martha "Patsy" Burruss (born 1786) if not her sister Elizabeth. No grave marker is found for Mrs. John Snow but she probably would be buried at Prospect Church cemetery if she died there in 1832 as family trees show. Some think that the Elizabeth Snow (1813-1894) with a gravestone there was a younger second wife of John Snow while others believe she was his daughter.
