Margaret Irene Scott, 104, of Hall, passed from this life on Saturday, May 18, 2019 surrounded by her loving family.

She was born Sunday, Feb. 28, 1915 in Eminence to the late John and Melinda Belle (Allee) Wright.

Irene retired in the late 1970s from Tender Care Nursing Home in Danville where she was a nurse’s aide. She had also previously worked at Dura Containers in Indianapolis, the Bureau of Motor Vehicles at the Indiana Statehouse and the Girls School at Plainfield.

Irene was very active with the Democrat Party and from her active work as a Gregg Township Precinct Committeeperson, she was awarded the opportunity to attend Lyndon B. Johnson’s inauguration.

She is survived by her grandchildren, Karen McKee-Arthur and husband Stan, Mark McKee and wife Aimee, Nancy McKee-Thompson and husband Rusty, Bruce McKee and wife Jeni, Troy Scott and wife Debby and Tamara Scott-Norton and husband Mike, Kelly Scott-Miller; great-grandchildren Jennifer Whetstone, Matthew Schubert, David McKee, Timmy Thompson, Bobby Thompson, Michael McKee, Carrie McKee, Jeremy McKee, Evan Scott, Emily Scott, Andrew Scott, Tara Grubbs, Cody Miller, Andrew Miller and Caitlyn Miller; and 17 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by husband Carney Scott, whom she married on Sept. 27, 1931 and he passed away on Dec. 16, 1984; son Harley Eugene Scott; daughter Janet B. McKee; parents John and Melinda; siblings Herman Wright, Gaylord Wright, Charles Wright, Harley Wright, Kenneth Wright, Lou Branneman, Goldie Berlin and Fern Murphy.

Irene was loved by all and has left a legacy that will live on through the generations to come.

The family would like to give special thanks to the nursing staff of The Waters Nursing Home for being earth angels for the past 13 years.

Visitation will be Wednesday, May 22 from 5-8 p.m. at Costin Funeral Chapel and again on Thursday from 10-11 a.m. at Mt. Pleasant Christian Church, 5830 West Hurt Road, Monrovia. Service will follow at 11 a.m.

Burial will be at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Hall.
