SANFORD - Aime (Tim) Normand, 91, of Sanford, died on Monday, Dec. 3, 2018 at The Maine Veterans Home in Scarborough after a lengthy illness of Dementia/Alzheimer's.Tim was born in Sanford on Sept. 4, 1927 to Rosario and Bernadette (Vermette) Normand. He attended local schools and then served in the United States Navy during World War II on the aircraft carrier, USS Princeton.Tim and his former wife, Yolande raised two daughters: Pauline and Suzanne and three sons: Michael, Daniel and Roland. In September, 1983, he married Darlene and raised another daughter, Nicole. During his working life, he held numerous jobs including milkman at Sanford Dairy, head custodian at Sanford High School and quality inspector at Pratt & Whitney from which he retired in 1990.Tim's Catholic faith was very important to him. He served as a lector and Eucharistic minister at Holy Family and was an advisor for high school students in the Catholic Youth Organization (CYO) and "Search" weekends. He sang in the folk group at the catholic churches in Sanford & Springvale. He was a member of the 4th Degree Knights of Columbus.Tim was a fun loving, faith filled man. He loved woodworking and motorcycle riding even up until the age of 80! He had that mischievous twinkle in his eye and his smile and presence would light up a room when he entered. Anyone he would meet, he would always try to make their day a bit brighter with a joke and a smile. The love for his family and friends was unmistakable to anyone he met.Tim was predeceased by his parents; son Danny; and granddaughter Kristen. Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Darlene (Anderson) Normand of Sanford; daughter Pauline Bragg and her partner, Alan of Ocala, Fla., son Michael and his wife, Diane of Gilbert, Ariz., son Roland and his wife Linda of Sanford, daughter Suzanne Paiement and her husband Michael of Sanford, daughter Nicole Normand and her partner, John of Sanford, sister Jeannine Normand of Boerne, Texas, sister Norma Kilpatrick of Glendale, Ariz., 10 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren.A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Therese of Lisieux Parish - Notre Dame de Lourdes Church, 10 Payne Street, Springvale on Friday, Dec. 7, 2018 at 12 p.m.. Burial with military honors will follow at the Southern Maine Veterans Memorial Ceremony located on Stanley Road in Springvale. Family flowers only.The family would like to especially thank the Maine Veterans Home for the love and care given to Tim over the past 18 months. Prior to his entering the Maine Veterans Home, he attended the adult day program at the Pavilion in Sanford where he received fabulous care.Arrangements are under the direction of the Black Funeral Homes and Cremation Service, Sanford- Springvale.Condolences may be expressed at www.blackfuneralhomes.com
