Phoebe Jane Vanalstine was born at Rockford, Illinois, December 2, 1851, and died at her home at Waldo, Kansas, October, 18, 1918 at the age of 66 years, 10 months and 15 days.

At an early age, she moved with her parents to Strawberry Point, Iowa. At the age of nineteen she was united in marriage to John Fairweather, July 10, 1870, to this union was born one son, Charles (now deceased.) She became a widow in 1887. In 1903 she was married to John Talmage and was again left a widow. In the spring of 1908 she came to Kansas making Natoma her home until the year of 1913 when she was married to Clark Meeker and moved to Waldo, Kansas. In 1917 Mr. Meeker died.

She leaves to mourn her loss, five sisters, Alvira Robinson, Natoma, Kansas; Agnes Smith, Strawberry Point, Iowa; Mary Bartholomew, Pueblo, Colorado; Julia Hendrickson, Lincoln, Kansas; Luella Compton, Los Angles, California and also a host of friends.

She was a member of the Methodist church. Private funeral services was held from the house, conducted by F. M. Lundy of Natoma and interment was made in the Cover cemetery where her body was laid to rest beside her late husband, Clark Meeker.
