Services were held Monday, May 16 at Faith Presbyterian Church in Lennox for Alice Hill who, having been in declining health, died at the Lennox Good Samaritan Center on Wednesday evening, May 11, 2005.

She attained the age of 96 years, six months and three days.

Alice E. (Stratmeyer) Hill was born on a farm near Tea on Nov. 8, 1908, the daughter of Enno J. and Minnie (Wheelhouse) Stratmeyer. Her mother died when she was 11 years old and she was raised by her father and her stepmother, Enno and Ella Stratmeyer She attended Schoffelman rural school and grew up there.

Alice moved to California in 1960 where she lived until she returned to Lennox Sept. 7, 1986. She continued to live here since that time.

Her mother preceded her in death in 1919; her father in 1952, her step-mother in 1975; two granddaughters: Dorene Aaron and Laurette Fodness; one great-grandson, Theodore Brass; a son-in-law: Lloyd Fodness in 2003, and two brothers, John E. Stratmeyer and Harm E. Stratmeyer.

Grateful for having shared her life are her three children Harold Aaron and his wife, DeLores, of Sioux Falls, Richard Aaron of Sioux Falls; Annetta Fodness of Lennox; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren two step-great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; one brother, Jacob E. Stratmeyer and his wife, Etta of rural Tea; one sister, Mary Overgaard of Lennox; two half sisters: Engeline Linderholm of Montrose, CA and Ida Fossum of Lennox; one stepbrother, Arleigh Temple and his wife, Sophie, of rural Davis; plus several nieces and nephews.
