Mrs Roberts, who died at her home in the city of Greenfield, Friday last, was the wife of Nathaniel H Roberts, present Recorder of this county. The death of Mrs Roberts, though expected for some time, has cast a gloom over the whole community.

About the year 1859 she united with the Presbyterian Church in Virginia under the ministry of Rev Samuel R Huston. At the time of her death she was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Greenfield, Mrs Roberts wanted to live for her family, but not contrary to the will of God. When she looked up into the faces of her dear little children her prayer was "Oh! God, spare me longer to my children." She honored Christ in her home, where a mother's christian counsel and influence is most needed. In this sacred realm of the true mother was where she yielded an influence that shall run on through many years, and after while her children's children will rise up and call her blessed. No woman need desire a higher eulogy than that which may be truthfully spoken of Mrs Roberts. Four children had preceded the mother to that better country, and may it not be that last Sabbath those four children gave the mother such a greeting as mortals cannot see, and all in the presence of that blessed Savior, whom she had taught them to honor and obey. She leaves behind, a husband and seven children, two of whom are married. Her humble submission to the will of God, and her quiet, peaceful death, will ever be a source of consolation to the friends. The large concourse of people who followed her remains to the cemetery on last Sabbath attest the love and sympathy, not only of the people of this city, but of the whole county.
