Sofie Schindler Behrens, age 96, passed away peacefully March 29, 1995, in Boise, Idaho.
Born January 24, 1899, in Munich, Germany, to Anton and Anna Babette Oberseither Schindler. She married Ernest A. Behrens on August 19, 1927 in Salt Lake LDS Temple. He preceded her in death on January 10, 1968. Active member of the LDS church. Sofie and the Schindler family were stalwart supporters of the LDS church in Munich, Germany where her father was branch president for forty years, throughout two World Wars. Sofie and her brothers came to America as young adults before the outbreak of WWII. She loved America and the opportunities of her chosen homeland. Salt Lake City, Utah had been her home for 70 years, but she most recently lived in Boise, ID.Survived by two sons, Ernest E. (wife Mary Jane), Salt Lake, Manfred (wife Nancy), Boise, Id.; nine grandchildren, Robert, Steven, Douglas, Wendy, Rob, Melanie, Eric, Brandon and David; 14 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by three sisters and three brothers.

'Grandma Sofie' will be missed by many friends and family in both Boise and Salt Lake City.

Funeral services will be Monday, April 3, 1995, 1:00 PM, at the Gardens Heights South Ward, 2220 East Fisher Lane (2935 South). Friends may call Sunday evening from 6 to 8 pm at the Holbrook Funeral Chapel, 3251 South 2300 East, and at the church on Monday for one hour prior to the services. Interment: Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park. Directors: The Holbrook Funeral Chapel.
