. Betty Gene Ranew Clements, 86, of Albany died Monday May 6, 2019 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital.
A graveside funeral service will be held Thursday 11:00AM at Crown Hill Cemetery. Dr. William E. Knight Jr. will be officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6:00 to 8:00PM at Kimbrell-Stern.
Born December 10, 1932 in Lee County to Grover Dudley Ranew and Annie Louise McDonald. Mrs. Clements graduated from Lee County High School in 1950. In December 1952 she married (Sgt.Maj. USMC) Clyde Clements which has preceded her death. She started her career at Bellsouth and then she worked with Albany Herald as a Newspaper Carrier. Mrs. Clements received an award for being the oldest newspaper carrier with the Albany Herald. Mrs. Clements was a long time member of First Baptist Church of Albany where she was in the Open Door Sunday School Class. She enjoyed volunteering at her church. Mrs. Clements loved all of her family, grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by her brothers C.D. Ranew, Richard Ranew and Merritt Ranew; sisters Velma Braswell, Martha Coxwell, Janelle Larkin and Martha Elizabeth Coxwell; nieces Laura Ranew and Barbara Cook; nephews Steve Kierce, Travis Kierce and Cliff Ranew Jr.
She is survived by her daughter Betsy Clements Lamb of Albany; a son Martin Clements and his wife Haylee of Albany; a brother Cliff Ranew in Lee County; grandchildren Jake Clements Lamb, Cy Clements Lamb, Eli Clements Lamb, Ella Louise Lamb and Madison Ruby Clements; a son in law Lewis R. Lamb; nieces and nephews Lynn Mertins, Elaine Barrett, Lisa Ranew, Clay Ranew, Linda Denny, Gloria Parker, Gail Crockett, Gary Ranew, Michael Ranew, Kathy O'Hern, Dudley Coxwell, Donna Reese, Robin Allegood, Rebecca Sheltra, Ryan Ranew, Jeanne Kirsh and Teresa Romano; special friends Lisa Stocks, Brenda Breedlove and David H. Slayton.
