He was born July 25, 1918, in Madison Township to Elga and Zena (Potes) Auten. On April 16, 1963, he married Betty Hartman Barron of Onsted, and she survives.
Mr. Auten operated Merle & Betty's Party Store near Onsted until his retirement. The Autens spent the winter months in St. James, Fla. And returb=ned in the summer to Onsted.
He was a member of the Moose Lodge in Cape Coral, Fla. And the Eagles Lodge in Brooklyn.
Survivors include two daughters, Patricia Hillard and Joan Ramus of Adrian; a stepdaughter, Patti Messenger of Orlando, Fla.; a sister Ellenora Hughes of Adrian; and seven grandchildren
He was preceded in death by his son Larry.
There will be no services.
