Services for Wilburn Ball, 74, of Spur were Tuesday, July 14, 1998 at the First United Methodist Church in Spur with Rev. Larry Burton, pastor, and Eric Swenson of Spur officiating. Burial was in the Spur Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Campbell Funeral Home.

Mr. Ball died Sunday, July 12, 1998 at the St. Mary´s Plaza in Lubbock. He was born May 30, 1924 in Grayson County, Texas. He married Ila Draper July 28, 1945 in Spur. He lived in Spur most of his life. He graduated from Spur High School in 1943. He was the owner of the Spur Laundry from 1946 until 1971. He then bought the Star Feed Store in 1973 and retired in 1997. He was a board member of the Caprock Telephone Company. He was an honorary member of the Spur National Honor Society. He received the V.F.W. Citizen of the Year in 1989. He was awarded Friend of Dickens Co. Jr. Livestock Show in 1991. He was awarded Friend of 4-H in Dickens County in 1997.

Survivors include his wife, Ila Ruth Ball, Spur; two sons, Rickey and Normal Ball, Georgetown; Benny and Debi Ball, Spur; three brothers, Lester Ball, Spur; Roy Lee Ball, California, MO; Donald Ray Ball, Spur; five grandchildren.; one great-grandchild and special friends, Jesus Gracia Davila´, Spur.
