Roster of Confederate Soldiers of Georgia, p. 862: "Private May 4, 1861, Co. D, 7th Regiment, Ga Volunteer Infantry, Army of No Virginia, Cobb County. Appointed Sergeant. Wounded at Wilderness, Va., May 6, 1864. Discharged on account of wounds Nov. 30, 1864." Application to State of Georgia for schedule award of $60 in Nov 1879 [showing his residence as Douglas Co. at that time] for loss of his left arm above the elbow, at the Battle of the Wilderness 6 May 1864.
