Isaiah Babcock, Sr. served on the Committee of Safety of Partridgefield, Massachusetts during the American Revolution, being elected as a town officer on 1 March 1779. Unsupported family history, places Isaiah, Sr. at the Siege of Yorktown as a Continental soldier in 1781. However, no such evidence has turned up from the U.S. War Department (Babcock, p.11). "A rough brown stone, native and peculiar to the country[side], stands at the head of the graves [of Isaiah & Elizabeth (Plumb) Babcock, Sr.]."- Babcock, A. Emerson. Gravesite Details

Large brown rock marks the grave of Isaiah & Elizabeth [Plumb] Babcock, Sr. It is near the grave of one of their sons, Col. Samuel Babcock. This cemetery was formerly known as "Grogh Cemetery" in the late 19th century.
