Funeral services for William Francis Donovan, 58, of Phillips, were held at 8:30 a.m. at the Heindl funeral home and at 9:00 a.m. at St. Patrick's Catholic church Wednesday, May 2, with the Rev. Andrew Skvarla, officiating. Burial was in St. Patrick's cemetery.
Mr. Donovan took his own life at noon, Sunday, April 29, using a rifle and it is believed that despondency because of ill health was the cause.
Mr. Donovan was born at Phillips February 11, 1904 and lived on a farm near Phillips all of his life. He was employed by the Flambeau Milling Co., and was engaged in farming.
He was married to Josephine Budwitas at East Chicago, Indiana Feb. 5, 1944.
Survivors are his wife, Josephine; one daughter, Barbara; one son, Russell; three brothers, George of Phillips and John and James of North Freedom; and two sisters, Mrs. Victor (Marie) Carney and Mrs. Josephine Simpson, both of North Freedom.
