Herbert “Herbie” A. Meckola, age 88, of Hoyt Lakes, passed away peacefully, on May 1, 2019 at Essentia Health – Northern Pines in Aurora, MN.

He was born in Hibbing, MN, later moved to Duluth, and then graduated from Fairmont High School in Oakland, CA. Herb began working at Erie Mining Company in 1957 and worked in numerous positions, retiring in 1993.

Herb was an avid golfer and had a passion for fishing and hunting. He enjoyed numerous trips to Canada every Spring and Fall. His favorite place to be was with family at their cabin on Whiteface Lake. He was a member of the Faith Lutheran Church where he sang in the choir for many years. He was on the Hoyt Lakes Men’s Bowling League. He took great pride in his lawn on Coventry Road.

He will be missed dearly and will live on forever in the hearts and memories of those who loved him.

Funeral service will be Monday, May 6, 2019 at Faith Lutheran Church in Hoyt Lakes with Pastor Brian Birk officiating. Burial will be in the Hoyt Lakes Memorial Cemetery.
