Geneva Gay Sowder Coley, 73, of Oak Hill, passed away on Tuesday, April 30, 2019 at Bowers Hospice House. Born on April 8, 1946, she was the daughter of the late William Ernest Sowder and Goldie Pear Settle Sowder.
She had worked at Beckley Appalachian Regional Hospital before becoming disabled. She enjoyed visiting with family and friends and going out to eat.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George Coley; step-son, Phillip Coley; siblings, Harold Sowder, Sherman Sowder, Loraine L. Radford, Evelyn Lois Turner, Betty Jo Kornke, and Bonnie Sue Hornsby.
Those left to cherish her memory include her step-son, Pat Coley and his wife, Mary Sue of Bradley; step-grandson, Jonathan Coley; siblings, James Sowder of West Chester, PA, Bob Sowder and his wife Jan of Warrenton, VA, Charles Sowder and wife, Jessie of Baltimore, MD, and Roseann Culley of Baltimore, MD; brother-in-law, Bill Kornke of Kilmarnock, VA; sister-in-law, Joanna Sowder of MacArthur, WV; and numerous nieces and nephews and her caretakers at Kyle’s Place Assisted Living in Oak Hill.
The family will receive friends from 12:00-1:00 pm, Saturdayin the Peace Mausoleum in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. Services will follow at 1:00pm in the Peace Mausoleum. Burial will be in the Garden of the Good Shepherd in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens.
