Tom Battershell passed away peacefully at home on Friday, April 26, 2019.

Heath and Vaughn Funeral Home, 201 N. Elm, Champaign, is assisting the family with arrangements.

He was born December 28, 1955 in Danville, Ill. and was the first child of Bill and Ruth Rose Battershell.

Surviving are three children: Chandler (Kristi) of Philo, Sommer (Bryce) Fisher of Galveston, Tex. and Amber of Champaign; and six grandchildren: Kameron, Karsyn, Kaden, Byron, Brady and Jayden.

Also surviving are two brothers: Tim (Donna) and Chris Battershell of Champaign.

Tom grew up in Champaign and was a 1974 Centennial High School graduate. He worked for the U of I grounds crew, the Asplundh Co, had a lawn-care business and also did carpentry. After retiring, he moved to Tuscola where he partnered with friend Linda to start A Bloom Above and Beyond. He was a member of the Moose Lodge and the Tuscola Lions Club, where he was past president.

Tom was a life-long Cub fan and enjoyed a spirited conversation on any topic!
