He also was a former chairman of the Honolulu Police Commission.
During the Korean War, he played a key role in organizing the Korean Relief Fund.
Born in Salt Lake City, he is survived by wife Irene Chipman, daughter Mary J. Slater, sons Vance and George Q., nine grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Services on the mainland.
