Services for Cecil Jay Cates, 79, of Rutherford Street, who died Sunday at Middle Tennessee Medical Center, will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Woodfin Memorial Chapel, with Rowlin Jernigan officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery.
A native of Cannon County and the son of the late Daniel V. and Verda Goode Cates, he is survived by his wife, Dorothy Smotherman Cates; a brother, C. L. Cates of Chattanooga; and a sister, Maurine Prater of Morrison.
He was a retired employee of A.E.D.C.
Visitation with the family will be after 4 p.m. today at Woodfin Memorial Chapel.
