Remsen — Ferris N. Salmon, 85, Town of Remsen, died yesterday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Leon Countryman, Town of Remsen, after a long illness.
He was born in Martinsburg, July 27,1875, the son of Silas and Elizabeth Bellinger Salmon. At the age of 14 he came to Steuben with his parents.
He married Nettie Kent on March 6, 1907, in Remsen. The Rev. A.F. Best officiated. Mrs. Salmon died Sept. 13, 1955.
After their marriage, the couple settled in East Steuben where Mr. Salmon operated a farm. For the past 20 years he had made his home in the Town of Remsen with his daughter.
Besides his daughter, he leaves four sons, Erwin S., of Tabert; Warren K., of Watertown; Maynard D., of Steuben and Silas W., of New Berlin. Another daughter Marjorie, died in 1918. He also leaves 21 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Burial will be in Fairchild Cemetery, Remsen. Utica Daily Press, Monday, August 8, 1960
