Edna Ruth Clowes, 92, of Bessemer, Al passed away on Tuesday, April 23, 2019. She was a member of The Baptist Church at McAdory. Edna Ruth was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and a proud GiGi to her great grandchildren. After moving from Bessemer she and George made Galleria Woods their home and established so many wonderful friendships. She was the sweetest mother in the world. Edna Ruth was preceded in death by her husbands, Cecil Gray Butler and George Challen Clowes. She is survived by her daughters, Bari (Bob) Montgomery and Kay (Lyman) Mitchell; her grandchildren, Jennifer (Warren) Giardina, Robert Montgomery, Kim (Trey) Schaefer, Alison (Erik) Henniger, Drew (Heather) Mitchell, Kevin (Samantha) Mitchell and Kyle (Silka) Mitchell; her 16 great grandchildren; her brother, Frank (Joyce) Dill. Edna Ruth is also survived by George's children, Charlene (Ron) Lotz and Fred (Lucy) Clowes. Church service will be held on Friday, April 26, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at The Baptist Church at McAdory. Family will receive friends at the church on Friday from 10- 11 a.m. Burial will be at Valhalla Cemetery. Bro. Bill McCall will be officiating. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be made to the chapel fund at Galleria Woods, 3850 Galleria Woods Dr. Hoover, AL 35244.
