He was a retired Engineer who worked for the L&N Railroads for 43 years, as well as a Navy Veteran. Bob was a member of Kosair Shrine Temple, Scottish Rite (Crestwood), and the Masonic Lodge #829 (PeeWee Valley), member of DeHaven Baptist Church (LaGrange, KY), former General Chairman of the Transportation Union, and was a former baseball catcher for the Chicago Cubs.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Bruce Schildknecht; three brothers; and one sister.
Bob is survived by his wife, Helena Badger Schildknecht; daughters, Shari Hayes (Danny) Christine Faith (Jeff), and Tami Day (Stephen); son, Robin Schildknecht; ten grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren, and his beloved dog "Ozzy".
Visitation will be held Friday, April 26, 2019 from 4:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M. Funeral Services will be held April 27, 2019 at 10:00 A.M. Burial will follow at Bethany Cemetery.
