Benjamin Bass, said by the Tennessee Historical Records Survey, to be a son of James and Mary Bass, was born ca 1736 N.C. and m. ca 1760 in Brunswick Co. Va. Martha Sarah Hicks, daughter of Robert Hicks and Miss Courtney. Their children were: ·

i. James Bass b. 1761, d. Rutherford Co, Tenn. m. Temperance Jordan who died in Athens, Ala. 1839

ii. John Hicks Bass b. 1763, d 1850 Putnam Co. Ga. m. 1791 Rebecca Petillo

iii. Frederick Bass b. 1765, d 1855 Tenn., unmarried

iv. Anne Bass b. 1773, m. Jan. 22, 1798 William Beatty

"I do hereby certify that I have received of Benjamin Bass one beef adjudged to weight ten hundred and fifty pounds, including the fifth quarter, Given under my hand this 14th of Sept. 1781.
2 Pounds, 17 Shillings and 3 Pence.
