NILES — William A. Murphy Jr., 86, of Niles, passed away peacefully Sunday, April 21, 2019, at his son’s home, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born April 13, 1933, in Cortland, to the late William and Violet King Murphy.

William worked at an early age and eventually owned many businesses throughout his life, such as Murphy’s Radio Service, Murphy’s Radio & TV, Murphy’s Auto Sales and Park Avenue Limousine Service. He drove for Aetna Freight Lines.

William served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War as a MP.

He was a member of the Niles McKinley Masonic Lodge No. 794, a member of the Eastern Star, the Scottish Rite and York Rite, and the Shriners and the Ali Baba Grotto. He was past Associate Bethel Guardian to Bethel No. 35 for Job’s Daughters, and Chapter Adviser of James J. Tyler Order of DeMolay’s. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Niles. William served as Assistant Scoutmaster to Boy Scout Troop 31. He was a member of the National Limousine Service and past President of Ohio Valley Limousine.

He enjoyed cars and trucks, especially limousines and Crown Vics. He liked to travel.

William is survived by two sons, William (Wanda) A. Murphy III of Howland Township and Joseph Wilson of Cortland; three daughters, Kelly (Jeff) Duel of Warren, Jackie Wilson of Apple Valley, Calif. and Cindy (Andy) Kasiewicz of Niles; four granddaughters, Tabathia (Eric) Murphy, Clarissa (Tyler) Murphy, Jessica Kasiewicz and London Nobbs; four grandsons, William A. (Jackie) Murphy IV, Andy (Melanie) Kasiewicz, Jason Kasiewicz and John (Kayla) Goldman; great-grandchildren, William A. Murphy V, Mason James Adams, Evan, Kayla, Jael, Kaedyance and Kyleigh Kasiewicz; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Howard C. Murphy; and sister, Lavern Murphy.

Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, April 25, 2019, at the Carl W. Hall Funeral Home, Warren, Ohio. A Masonic service will be held 4:45 p.m., prior to visitation.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday, April 26, 2019, at the funeral home, where an hour of calling and military honors will precede the service.

Burial will take place in the Hillside Cemetery.
