ARIEL S. FLINT
Losing a struggle against an illness which gripped him while serving his county as fireman on a navy cruiser during the war, Ariel S. Flint, popular patient at the Arrowhead hospital, died there yesterday afternoon.

The young man was believed to be recovering until about two weeks ago, when he suffered a relapse which culminated in his death yesterday.

The patient body and employed personnel of the hospital are saddened by the death of the young man, who had become one of the most popular of the ex-service men fighting to regain their health at Arrowhead. Since last August Flint had been at the hospital, undergoing treatments and which included the best medical aid possible in the physicians' fight to restore his health.

Young Flint was a member of the Masons, Knights of Pythias, a charter member of Arrowhead Post No. 254, American Legion, and a member of the Disabled Veterans of the World War, Post No. 1, of Los Angeles. He leaves an aged father and sister, Mrs. J. A. Seargeant, 1600 Sunset Boulevard, Los Angeles. Interment will take place in that city.

The San Bernardino Sun, Volume 49, Number 15, March 15, 1921.

Notes:
His World War 1 draft registration had his birth year as 1886. The 1900 census has his birth in May 1885.

He first worked as a teamster in the early 1900's, then worked as a fireman before entering the service.

In the Registers of Patients at Naval Hospitals, in his first entries in 1917/1918, he had been diagnosed with pernicious anemia.

He was also a student, taking advantage of a 1917 congressional act providing for education for those wounded while in the service of their country; he was enrolled at the University of California at Los Angeles in 1920, and was noted as one of many "Federal Students".
