Bob enlisted in the United States Navy Reserve and served his country very proudly during World War II, as an Aviation Radioman, Third Class. In 1949, they moved to Boston where Bob began law school. Upon completing his Juris Doctrate, Bob continued on with his education at Boston University, where he also received his MBA. In 1956, they left the educational environment of Boston and settled in the West Side of Woburn where he has remained As the children were growing up, Bob and Jean always enjoyed taking family trips during the summer months . They always managed to combine a lot of fun, while at the same time, all were learning about the history of the United States and of the world! He was a very strong supporter of his family always partaking in all they were involved with and achieved. As the children married and the grandchildren came, “Grampy,” absolutely loved being Grampy!! He so enjoyed their company!
Bob was very involved in the City of Woburn. Never one for political office, Bob concentrated on working with the people, helping people. The church, hospital, educational foundations, planning board and banks all benefited from Bob’s expertise and knowledge . From being on the board at Charles Choate Memorial Hospital to Choate Symms, St Barbara’s Church, the Knights of Columbus, St. Francis College Alumni and had been chosen “Man of the Year” by the Alumni Assoc, and served on the Massachusetts Bar Association and the Board of Directors at the Northern Bank and Trust Co., for many years have all had the honor of working with Bob. Bob was certainly a man of the old school regime. Often described as an “old world gentleman;” Bob tipped his hat to the ladies, opened doors, took coats, always showing the greatest respect for whomever he was with.
Bob was sadly predeceased by his beloved wife Jean.
Bob was the cherished father of William B. “Bill” Naughton, his wife Nancy of NH, Barbara N. Jeannotte, her late husband Keith of Woburn and Roberta N. “Berta” Ingham, her late husband John of NH. Loving “grampy” of Nathaniel, Joshua and Matthew Naughton, Robert and Ryan Jeannotte and Elizabeth Ingham, and “great grampy” of Alexandrina, Lea, Grace, Maxwell, Colten, Patrick, Kathryn and Rebecca. A Funeral will be held from the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main Street, Woburn on Friday, June 15th at 9 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Barbara’s Church, 138 Cambridge Road, Woburn at 10. Interment in Woodbrook Cemetery, Woburn.
