Irene grew up in Canton, GA. After high school, she worked for the Bell Bomber Plant (Lockheed) during WWII and as an operator for Bell South. Irene married Tommy Jeff Rich of Dalton, GA August 5, 1945. They were married for 45 years and had four children together. They enjoyed spending time at the lake and many years together antiquing.
Irene is survived by her children Tommy Jeff Rich, Jr. of Marietta, Larry Leon Rich (Elaine) of Temple, Alan Jerome Rich (Debra) of Marietta, and Bruce Erwin Rich (Tanja) of Marietta; daughter-in-law Bernice Rich of Marietta; grandchildren Michael Rich (Melissa), Leigh Kiser (Mike), Ginger Mills, Larry Leon (Buddy) Rich, Jr.(Becci), Dana Bishop (Ben), Elizabeth Impastato, and Crissy Rich; 17 great-grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren.
Irene was preceded in death by her husband Tommy Jeff Rich, parents James Frank and Mary Sue Cain Roberts, granddaughter Becky Rich, and her siblings Blanch Roberts Holbrook, Pearl Roberts Ledford and Earl Roberts.
Funeral Services were held in the Chapel of Mayes Ward-Dobbins Funeral Home in Marietta with Rev. Andrew Cunningham officiating. Interment was at Georgia Memorial in Marietta.
