Antonio Enrique "Tony" Garcia (Big Chief)

JUNE 13, 1937 – APRIL 6, 2019

Our beloved and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and life-long friend peacefully transitioned into God's beautiful heaven on Saturday, April 6, 2019. Born on June 13, 1937 in San Antonio, Texas to parents Luis and Bertha Garcia (whom he is reuniting with once again). His family relocated to Tucson, Arizona shortly after his birth. Tony is survived by Grace, his precious wife of 57 years, as well as his beloved daughters Anna (Alfonso) Bojorquez, and Patricia (Mark) Garcia. He is once again embracing his beloved son Antonio Enrique "Tonito" who joined our Lord at the young age of 3. Tony adored his grandchildren Robert (Allie Hurt) Solomon, Gabby Garcia, Melissa (David) Valencia, and Jr Bojorquez. Plus his two great-grandchildren Anyssa Bojorquez, and DJ Valencia. He was a caring brother to his siblings Jose Luis Garcia, and Ruth "Cookie" (Ernie) Barrios who he joins in Heaven. He leaves behind his loved oldest sister, Teresa Esquivel (he is reunited with his dear brother-in-law Dr. Raymundo Esquivel). He also cherished his many nieces and nephews. Tony "Big Chief" adored his countless childhood friends who quickly became family. He embraced them with his love, compassion, dedication, support, humor, and guidance throughout the years. He took pride in maintaining these relationships he held so dear to his heart. His memories with them were rich and pure. He is once again joined with some of "his brother's": Eddie McCormick, Ralph McCormick, and Tony Gomez. Tony truly treated others as Jesus would. In his teens, he developed lasting relationships with the priests and nuns at St. Augustine's Cathedral. He was a leader for his childhood friends as a member of the Future Catholic Leaders (FCL's) Youth Group. Tony took pride in being kind to others. Anyone who knew him realized he would be a strong support in all of life's endeavors. A true gentleman. He had a welcoming and nurturing personality that made one feel important and included. Tony touched the lives of many leaving a lasting impression in their hearts. He truly is one of the greatest Blessings of our lives.
