The people of Thompson were deeply grieved by the sudden death of Mrs. John Hansmire, of heart failure.
Nancy Marion was the daughter of Charles and Susan Riddle, born at Ottowa (sic), Illinois, March 4, 1857, and passed to her eternal rest on August 12, 1919, at the age of 62 years, 5 months and 8 days.
The Riddle family came to Beatrice, Nebraska, in 1869, where Nancy was united in marriage to John Hansmire January 1, 1876, and came to Thompson where they lived since and were well known and highly esteemed all over Jefferson county.
The husband with Children, Florence miller, of Preston; Nellie McCord, of Fairbury; Eva Weirich, of Pleasant Hill, Mo.; Homer and Howard of Fairbury and Rex of Wymore, with 17 grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs. Jane Bouldy, of Golden City, Mo., and Mrs. Nellie Baird, Oklahoma City, Okla,; remain to mourn the sad loss of a faithful wife, mother and friend.
Mrs. Hansmire was a member of the Methodist church but was broad minded and could alway worship when opportunities opened with other christian believers. She will be greatly missed by many friends to whom she was a help and blessing always.
Funeral services were conducted at the home by Rev. Wayland, A. Nickerson of Reynolds, Friday morning at 10 o'clock which was largely attended. The casket rested in a bank of flowers during the service, which had been sent by relatives and friends. Music was rendered by a ladies' quartett (sic) of Reynolds. Two sons, three son-in-laws and a nephew acted as pallbearers. Burial was at Fairbury cemetery.
Children were Charles Homer, Lula Nell, William Rex, Florence, John Willard, Howard Henry, Jesse Clayton, and Ruth Evelyn.
