She grew up at Mountain View Subdivision east of Front Royal and was a vivacious and popular member of Warren County High School Class of 1955 where she was an all around student active in many school activities including sports. She served on the Student Council, was a member of the Monogram Club, the Girls' Athletic Association, the JV and Varsity Basketall teams, the Girl's Bowling League, the Girl's Intramural Sports, and the Girl's Hockey Team as well as served as an Office Helper. She will be remembered as a lovely lady, a hard working and good mother, a faithful and trusted friend to many and a caring and loving Christian. She worked for Warren County Office of Social Services and also for several local Offices for Income Tax Preparation.

Betty was the last member of her immediate family except for a daughter, Sydney Christopher Manuel who survives. Betty Jane was predeceased by her parents and by two children, Barry Turner Manuel (1957-1996) and Dana Michelle Manuel (1959-1974). Also predeceasing her were her four siblings: Nancy Lee Turner Rivenbark Kirkland, C. Warren Turner, Earl Leon Turner, and Juanita Frances Turner Pullen.

The Commonwealth of Virginia, with the permission of the Courts, paid for her cremation and Omps Funeral Home of Winchester, VA provided crematory services. Through the kindness and loving care of her dear friend, Prudence Boerner Mathews who graciously agreed to accept her cremains, together with the generous donations received from many friends as well as caring strangers through Prudie's Facebook Account, Betty will be interred with her children at Prospect Hill Cemetery. Prudie was notified, July 25, 2019 that Betty's remains will be delivered to Prudie soon. Thanks to the outpouring of support and donations to Prudie's Facebook posting, there will be a private graveside service led by Sammy Campbell plus there will also be a permanent marker erected at Prospect Hill to honor and formally document her time on earth.

May all who knew and loved her remember the healthy, happy days of Betty's life. May Betty Jane Turner Manuel now rest in peace forever remembered and honored as she so deserves.
