Black, Donald Robert Bay City, Michigan Don passed away at McLaren Bay Region on Wednesday, April 10, 2013. He was born on April 25, 1941 in Bay City Michigan, and has lived here all of his life. Don was the only grandson of the late Sidney and Lillian (Ogden) Black, and the eldest grandson of the late George and Mamie (Toby) Nassif. Don graduated from Bay City Central High School in 1960. He was a self-employed carpenter and a mason contractor, and was "half" of the C. Black & Son Home Builders. He loved working with wood and his private camping land in Arenac County. Most of all, genealogical research was something he not only loved, but was great at. As a hobby, he restored many old cars and trucks. On November 13, 1965 he married the former Dorothy A. Vanderwill at St. Vincent de Paul Church in Bay City MI. Dorothy, his wife of 47 years survives him. Also surviving are: two children, Shelly A. Black of Bay City MI and David D. Black of Kansas; 3 grandchildren, Jamie and Chris of Kansas, and Taylor Black of Bay City MI; and a great grandson, Justin Black of Kansas. The family will receive friends on Friday, April 12, 2013 from 2 – 4 PM and 6 – 8 PM at the Hyatt-Ewald Funeral Home, 700 N. Monroe Street. No service will be held. A private interment will take place in St. Patrick's Cemetery.
