Elk Rapids Resident Dies ELK RAPIDS — Mrs. Gertrude Dixon, 79. of Elk Rapids, died Tuesday at Meadowbrook Care Facility where she had been a patient for four years. Mrs. Dixon was born April 14. 1890 in Toledo, Ohio, the daughter of Charles and Wihilimina Jarchow. She had been a resident of the Elk Rapids area since 1957. She was married to Martin Dixon Aug. 3, 1912. in Toledo. Mrs. Dixon was a member of Mancelona Eastern Star Chapter 330.
Surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Franklin (Alice) Kontizak of Grand Rapids and Mrs. Herbtr (sic) (Betty) Braman of Elk Rapids: six grandchildren; nine great grandchildren: two sisters, Miss Alda Jachow of Palo Alto, Calif, and Mrs. Richard (Ruth) Turnow of Toledow (sic). Funeral services will be Friday at 1 p.m. at Miller funeral home in Mancelona with Rev. Ronald McGregor officiating. Burial will be in the Fairview cemetery in Mancelona. Memorials may be directed to the Meadowbrook Care Facility.
