She was born in Denver, CO in 1931 to Charles Eggert and Madeline Kilhofer Eggert. The family moved to Oakland, CA in the 1940s, where she graduated from Oakland High in 1949. She met future husband Jim Taylor in 1952, and they were married in April 1954.
Charlene worked at various office jobs and organizing for the Teamsters Union in the Bay Area. She also worked many years at St. Anthony’s in Oakland and other Catholic Churches and diocese offices as the receptionist, and in accounting. In 1990, she retired to Grass Valley, CA. Charlene was well known for her love of animals and rescuing elderly, unwanted dogs. She was a lifelong Denver Broncos fan.
She is survived by her children Teresa (Ron) Hemness of Midland, TX, Joni of Rough and Ready, and James (Tami) Taylor of Paradise, CA. She has also left behind grandchildren; Austin, Ashlee, Scott, and Randal, as well as many nieces and nephews.
