Farris G. Kindrick, 94, died Wednesday at Heritage Hills Nursing Home. He was born January 28, 1898 in Atkins, Ark. to Anderson Jackson and Tennessee Lee (Austin) Kindrick. They came to Oklahoma Indian Territory when he was a small child to near Gerty and Coalgate. Farris spent his entire life in the McAlester area. He was a charter member of Hillcrest Baptist Church serving in several positions of leadership. He served 25 years as choir director, Sunday School superintendent; church clerk, church treaturer, bible teacher of "Fishers of Men" and deacon. He married Amy Curlee in 1918 and she preceded him in death in 1926. He married Ruth Ernest of Durant of July 6, 1937 in Eufaula. He was also preceded in death by his parents, four sisters and a brother. Survivors include his wife, Ruth of the home; a son, Allen J. Kindrick of Pasadena, Texas; three daughters, Jearline Oaks of Sebastian, Texas, Shirley Jean George of El Monte, Calif. and Christine Ernest of Norman; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-six great grandchildren; and ten great great grandchildren. Funeral services will be Monday 10 a.m. at Bishop Chapel of Memories with Rev. Bill Presnell officiating. Interment will be at Oak Hill Cemetery under the direction of Bishop Funeral Service. Pallbearers will be John Stensby, Joel Reedy, Junior Eller, Clyde Stokes, Harmon Stokes and Gene McBee. Honorary pallbearers will be Glen Wood, Jack Presnell, Bob Hearod, Rafael Harper and the Men's Bible Class.
