Christopher Columbus "Howell" Blacksher was born February 22, 1871 in Selmer, Tennessee, the son of Jacob and Martha Curtis Blackshear. He was the eighth child and 6th son of this couple.
C.H. married Vinie Roberta Layton on July 4, 1896 in Adamsville, Tennessee. Vinia was known as "Berta". She was born on December 12, 1882, Adamsville, Tennessee.
In 1911 Howell moved his family to Leonard, Texas and lived there for several years before moving on to Lelia Lake. They moved again to Wellington, Texas in 1924. He was a resident of Wellington 17 years and during this time he won many friends who admired him for his honesty, for his uprightness of character and for his willingness to help those who had less than himself. He was a retired farmer.
Christopher Howell Blacksher was baptized into the Church of Christ Church on August 2, 1923.

Christopher Columbus Howell Blacksher died at his home on July 31, 1941. The Rev. H.H. Neely, pastor of the First Christian Church, was in charge of the rites. He was buried in Fairview Cemetery, Wellington, Texas.
