He was born in Possum Trot, near Peel, Arkansas on November 14, 1949 to Wilburn "Raze" and Elsie (Austin) Akins. He was employed at Ranger Boat Manufacturing in the wiring shop for 30 years. He was a loving husband and father. He enjoyed cookouts, music, horses, the outdoors, and being with friends and family.
He was preceded in death by two brothers: W.M. "Sleepy" Akins, and Bob Akins; and his father.
