ST. GEORGE -- In loving memory of our husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, John Dorenbosch, also known as, "John the Barber." He lived a wonderful 66 years. Formerly of Leeuwarden, Netherlands; Salt Lake City, Utah; Smithfield, Utah and long-time resident of St. George, Utah.

John passed away on November 14, 2003 after a short battle with cancer. He will forever be in the hearts of everyone who knew him. John was born to Cornelis Dorenbosch and Anna Drost on May 6, 1937 in Leeuwarden, Netherlands.

He married Thea Klasens on November 9, 1962 in Utrecht, Netherlands. John attended public school in the Netherlands and received his associates degree from Dixie College.

John has been a barber for over 50 years and served his clients with love and respect. He has been an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. His favorite calling was being able to train fellow members on genealogy. He has also worked very hard on his own family's genealogy.

John loved his family and worked very hard to support them even though he suffered most of his life with arthritis.

He is survived by his wife, Thea Dorenbosch of 41 years; his mother Anna Dorenbosch; five children, Neal and Sherryl Dorenbosch, Anne and Dean Grenier, Matthew and Angie Dorenbosch, Paula and Allen Long, Gerald and Heather Dorenbosch; 20 grandchildren; and one great granddaughter. He was preceded in death by his six year old son, Andrew Dorenbosch and his father, Cornelis Dorenbosch.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 18, 2003 at 12 Noon at the Snow Canyon 1st Ward, 1184 N. Dixie Downs Road. Family and friends may call at Metcalf Mortuary, 300 W. St. George, Blvd on Monday evening, November 17, 2003 from 6-8 p.m. and on Tuesday, 10:30-11:30 a.m. prior to funeral services at the Ward Chapel. Interment will be at the St. George City Cemetery, 700 E. Tabernacle under the direction of Metcalf Mortuary. Condolences may be sent through our Web site at www.metcalfmortuary.com.
