Maria "Lucy" Baca, age 87, passed away Wednesday, April 3, 2019 in Albuquerque, New Mexico with her loving family by her side. She was born in Horse Springs, NM on August 15, 1931, to Martin and Brigida (Leyba) Chavez.

Lucy enjoyed visiting with everyone and had many family and friends. She lived a very simple life and enjoyed simple things; such as dancing, coloring, playing with the kids, and sitting outside to soak up the warm sun, enjoying the pleasures of the outdoors. She always made sure her makeup, hair and nails were done.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jose Elias Baca; sisters, Anna Maria Gallegos, Cipriana Griego, and Rafaelita Velasquez; and her brother, Luis Chavez.

Lucy is survived by her niece, Mary Peralta, Isabel Romero, Clorinda Valles, Margie and husband Pete Romero, Berndadette Armijo-Paez; nephews Raymond Armijo, late Richard Armijo and wife Gloria; great nieces, Rebecca Chavez; great-nephew, Anthony M. Peralta; great-great-niece, Darlene Peralta; and great-great-nephew, Anthony E. Peralta. She also had many more nieces and nephews who she loved.

Burial will take place at San Miguel Catholic Cemetery following service.

Pallbearers will be Darlene Peralta, Anthony E. Peralta, Jason Peralta, Alana Chavez, Mathew Chavez, and Johnny Jaramillo. Honorary pallbearers will be Maximus Jaramillo, Pete Romero, Marty Romero, and Charles Peralta.
