Agnes Virginia Gayle Harris, 94, of King George County died peacefully..., surrounded by her family at her home, Aspen Grove Farm, where she was born and raised.

She was a graduate of Mary Washington College and Traphagen School of Design in New York City. She was a lifetime member of Fletcher's Chapel United Methodist Church and was active through the church on mission trips, including a trip to Alaska when she was 80 years old.

Mrs. Harris was on the Smoot Library Board, and she served as a director for the Frank C. Pratt Mental Health Board. Gardening was her favorite hobby, and she loved digging in her flowers.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Francis M. Harris Jr.; her parents, Thomas B. Gayle II and Nellie Pratt Gayle; her brothers, T. Benton Gayle III, Alex P. Gayle, Byron C. Gayle and Robert L. Gayle; her sisters, Esther G. Winston, Lillian G. Winston and Ruth G. Winston; and a son-in-law, Michael S. Pruett.

Survivors include her daughters, Elizabeth Pruett and Janet Gayle Harris, both of King George; grandchildren Elizabeth G. Weadon and her husband, Howard, and Bradford S. Pruett; great-grandson James Michael Weadon; and numerous nieces and nephews.
