Lavene Defew Thompson, age 88, of Benton, Kentucky passed away April 1, 2019 at 4:40 pm at The Willows at Citation in Lexington, Kentucky.She was a member of First Missionary Baptist Church in Benton and a member of the Marshall County Homemakers.
Lavene Thompson is survived by her daughter, Peggy Barnes and husband Joe of Lexington, Kentucky and a son, Mike Thompson and wife Linda of Benton, Kentucky. She leaves behind three grandchildren, Dusty Hall of Lexington, Kentucky, Vanessa Cunningham of Paducah and Kimberly Thompson of Benton and two great-grandchildren, Ian Cunningham and Dalton Hall.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Jack Davis Thompson, her parents Louis and Martha Elizabeth Copeland Defew, and two sisters Mary Francis Petway and Venice Louise Edwards.
Funeral services for Lavene Thompson will be Friday, April 5, 2019 at 1:00 pm at Filbeck-Cann Funeral Home of Milner & Orr in Benton, Kentucky with Joe Barnes officiating. Burial will follow in Birmingham Cemetery.
