"Count Sobieski Steele was born in Port Byron, X. Y., on October 30, 1834, and was married in 1858 to Elizabeth Collins, at Mishawaka, Ind. Immediately afterward they came to Bourbon county to make their home, and resided here during the remainder of their lives. To the union were born four daughters, Mrs. Halm, of Sand Springs, Okla.; Mrs. Maude Hughes, of Kansas City; Mrs. Nettie Cowden, of San Benito, Tex., all of whom were present for the funeral, and Mrs. Katie Waters, deceased. Twenty-two years ago Mr. Steele was married to Mrs. Emma R. Pulliam of this city, and she survives him."
