Opal LeeOma 'Oma' Bennett, 83, of Bethany, Oklahoma, died on Sunday, March 31, 2019 in Oklahoma City. Oma was born September 19, 1935, in Prairie Grove, Arkansas, to Charles Lincoln (Link) Vickery and Ollie Bell Vickery. She was survived by a daughter, Debra Miller and husband Gerald of Mustang, Oklahoma; a son, Steve Smith and wife Nancy of Edmond, Oklahoma; daughter, Tammy Smith and son-in-law Robert Wills Jr. of El Reno, Oklahoma; grandson, whom she raised as her son, Shawn Smith of Bethany, Oklahoma; granddaughters, April Robb and husband Paul; Stephanie Parrish and husband Michael, Melanie Zuniga and husband David; Destiny Gonzalez and husband Sam; Christine Novian and husband Casey; Stacy Gescat, Melissa Smith; grandsons, Chris Scott and wife Amy; Christopher Smith; Jeremy Smith and wife Heather; Steven Bates; brothers, LV Vickery and wife Lorene; Olan Vickery; many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and countless friends all over the world. She was preceded in death by here parents; son, Billy Ray Smith; daughter, Vicki LeeOma Gescat; grandson, Steven Jeffrey Smith; sisters, Lillian Barnes and Norma Brockman; brothers, CL Vickery and Rue Vickery; maternal and paternal grandparents; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. To say that Oma loved the Lord would be an understatement. Everyone that she talked to knew that after about five minutes into any conversation, about the goodness of God. Oma didn’t need a lot of material things to make her happy. Time spent with family and friends meant more to her than any amount of money or gift. She started working as a small child, and worked hard her whole life. She was a published poet and loved gospel and country music. Oma never met a stranger, and everyone instantly fell in love with her. This world is a better place because of her, and she would be deeply missed. Services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, 5 April, at the Buchanan Funeral Service chapel. Rev Bob Garringer officiated. Pallbearers were great-grandsons, Tyler Nowlin, Tanner Nowlin, Thatcher Nowlin, Karsten Scott, Daiven Zuniga, Ethan Zuniga.
