C. J. Bailey Rites Held At Ellsinore
Columbus Jefferson Bailey, son of Henry and Ninevah Riddle Bailey, was born in Chaonia, Mo. on Nov. 27, 1892 and died in the Doctors Hospital in Poplar Bluff, Mo. on March 18, 1972 at the age of 79 years, 3 months and 21 days.
On June 14, 1919 he was united in marriage to Mae Kellums who survives. He is also survived by two sons, Clyde of Savannah, Ill., Carl of Galena, Ill., three daughters, Mrs. Ethel Joplin of Ellsinore, Mrs. Marie Self of Winona, Mo., Mrs. Ines Hill of California, 13 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren; 5 brothers, Jack Bailey of Williamsville, Mo., George of St. Charles, Mo., Howard of Kansas City, Mo., Bill of Springfield, Mo., Virgil of Missouri, one sister, Mrs. Mary Moore of Springfield, Mo., other relatives and friends.
Mr. Bailey professed his faith in Christ and united with the Ellsinore Assembly of God Church.
Funeral service was held Monday, March 20, 2:00 p.m. at the Assembly of God Church in Ellsinore. Ministers were the Rev. Michael Collins and Rev. Everett Berry. Music was by the church choir, Mrs. Michael Collins, pianist.
Pallbearers were Asa Boxx, Ralph Jenkins, Herbert Riley, Patti Yowell, Dennis Webb and N. E. Stocker.
Interment was in Hill Top Cemetery under direction of Gish-Bowles and Coder Funeral Home of Piedmont.
